As Centauri Prime is bombarded from space, Londo Mollari (Peter Jurasik) breaks G’Kar (Andreas Katsulas) out of his cell, then intends to confront the Regent (Damian London). Garibaldi (Jerry Doyle) gives Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner) the details of the attacks on Centauri Prime, and that the defense grid has been shut down. Delenn (Mira Furlan) and Lennier (Bill Mumy) are still stranded in hyperspace. The Regent reveals to Londo the alien who is controlling him.
The alien is Drakh (Wayne Alexander), one of the Shadows’ servants. His kind are from Z’ha’dum and wandered in space after the defeat of the Shadows. They want Centauri Prime as their new home. The planet is booby-trapped with bombs. Sheridan arrives and demands the Narn fleet withdraw. Na’Tok (Robin Sachs) invites him to join the assault, but he refuses. He is warned that he may be caught in the crossfire. The Regent tells Londo that the Centauri ships will fight the Alliance. He shows Londo the alien keeper on his body, then falls dead.
Sheridan decides not to engage the Centauri. Delenn and Lennier are at the mercy of hyperspace currents. Londo finds G’Kar awake and informs him that Londo is the new Emperor, so G’Kar can no longer be his bodyguard. They separate, friends. The Keeper alien is attached to Londo, who calls off the Centauri attacks. Londo begs the Drakh not to kill Delenn.
Londo is not forthcoming about the truth regarding the Drakh and Sheridan is puzzled. Delenn and Lennier dare to fire the ship’s weapons to attract attention, though it may put them farther off course. They see the Centauri fleet approaching and prepare to die, but they are saved instead.
Sheridan and Delenn are reunited, and they join G’Kar to hear Londo’s address. He blames the troubles on the Regent and Sheridan. He says he will walk alone outside the Alliance. He appoints Vir (Stephen Furst) as ambassador to Babylon Five. Delenn seems to sense the presence of the Keeper, seeing a darkness around Londo. Sheridan attends a discussion of the Shadow Technology and where it is appearing.
It seems the Drakh allowed the Centauri home world to be attacked because it provided the chaos to allow them to infiltrate Centauri society. Londo has sacrificed himself to save his people and must live with an alien forever. Londo and G’Kar are marvellous as usual. The Regent was sad and chilling at the same time. The Keeper is seriously creepy. Lennier and Delenn have a scene, in which he blurts out, “I love you,” and she says, “I know.” This is called a Han and Leia moment. But Londo is the centre of the episode and ends a sad figure, terribly alone on the Imperial throne.
